Update
Get the latest updates available for your computer's Windows Operating
System, software, and hardware. Why should you update your Windows
software? Often flaws are found in Windows Systems and Microsoft
provides a free fix or patch to correct it. Some of these flaws
could be exposed by a cyber attack.
SpyBot
Search your computer for spy and ad software. Spy and ad software
can be annoying or dangerous. Some programs track your Internet
activities and display PopUp ads. Others collect information about
you such as your credit card numbers. These are threats that cannot
be ignored.
Symantic
Sercurity Check
Symantec Security Check tests your exposure to online threats. Check
your system to make sure it has Anti-Virus Software and a current
subscription. Not having a current subscription is almost as bad
as not having any Anti-Virus Software at all. A computer virus (or
worm) is a program or piece of code that is placed in your computer
without your knowledge and runs against your wishes. For example,
they can stop your computer from functioning, destroy data, take
over your email program, or steal sensitive data.
Mozilla
Web Browser and Email
This is a great program for web browsing, email, and HTML editing.
It was built with privacy and security in mind. Often I have seen
Internet Explorer compromised by spy and ad software. I have never
found Mozilla compromised by these sinister programs. Mozilla has
features for stopping PopUps and filtering junk mail. |
